‘Timeless Beauty’ is different from what we usually expect from the Gallo-Roman Museum in Tongeren. The exhibition shows how provocative nude photos by cult photographer Marc Lagrange dialogue with intriguing texts from Roman authors and beautiful ancient artifacts from the museum’s collection.

The Timeless Beauty exhibition brings female beauty into the spotlight. Beauty of today, represented by more than 50 works by the Belgian photographer Marc Lagrange, but also beauty of the past. You will learn, among other things, how ladies dressed 2,000 years ago, which jewelry they wore, and what was in a Roman vanity case.

The exhibition is built in such a way that a dialogue emerges between the beauty of now and the beauty of then. Lagrange’s photos mingle with the Roman artifacts of the museum and poetic texts from classical authors such as Ovid and Sextus Propertius. The result is a dialogue that seems to give both the old and the new an extra dimension.
