Description from the seller
Wardrobe/Bookcase from the Napoleon III era in Louis XV style, Lacquered and Painted
Important French antique wardrobe/bookcase from the Napoleon III period, realized in Louis XV style, finely lacquered and hand-painted. The piece stands out for its elegant tripartite structure with three front doors adorned with diamond-shaped metal grids and interior drapes in the original gold-colored fabric, which confer refinement and aesthetic depth to the overall appearance.
The upper band is decorated with hand-painted floral motifs and entwined tendrils, enriched with gold details that frame the entire perimeter with shaped moldings. The lower paneling features central recesses with elaborate ornamental relief motifs, characterized by scrolls, stylized leaves and small gold decorative elements, executed with a typically French taste.
Internally the piece is divided into three compartments: the two side sections have shelves, while the central, wider compartment offers great storage capacity. The inner doors retain the original drapes applied to the back of the grids, a detail that underscores the authenticity and charm of the era.
The base is supported by elegant feet in Louis XV style, connected by shaped aprons and small central decorative elements. A piece of furniture with great charm and stage presence, ideal both as a bookshelf and as a lounge or formal study cabinet.
