Pillbox - Silver

A silver snuff/pill box, with the master mark of the silversmith Moerkerk (Fa. Moerkerk & Co.) based in Haarlem.
It has an oval hinged lid.
• The detailed relief image (repoussé technique) depicts figures from Rembrandt's masterpiece The Night Watch.
• Such small utilitarian objects with Old Dutch scenes were commonly made in the Netherlands around the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
