Description from the seller

Vase Christofle « Forme Poisson » – Collections Historiques – Grand modèle 33,5 cm

I offer for sale this remarkable Christofle vase “Forme Poisson,” an emblematic sculptural piece from the prestigious Historical Collections of the House of Christofle.

Originally designed by Émile Reiber in 1874, this model is inspired by a Japanese bronze vase dating from the late Edo period. It bears witness to the influence of Japonisme on French decorative arts of the 19th century and to Christofle’s exceptional craftsmanship.

Made in patinated silvered metal using a particularly demanding technique, this vase is crafted in solid cast metal, in one piece and without any joints. The finely worked details, notably the eyes, scales and fins, give it a unique presence and character.

At once a vase, a sculpture and a true work of art, this majestic piece will naturally find its place in refined interior decoration.
