Interesting porcelain doll made by Lupe Durán around the 1980s or 1990s. The head is biscuit, fair complexion with defined rosy cheeks, blue eyes and blonde mohair hair. The body, painted wood, is articulated at the four limbs through an internal system of cords and wires, using the traditional technique of this type of early-century pieces.
On the nape we find a very particular stamp: the initials K and R separated by a six-pointed star and below the number 109. This corresponds to Kämmer & Reinhardt, one of the most important and sought-after brands in the porcelain doll market. However, the head was not made by this company, but by Lupe Durán herself, who acquired some of the molds used by Kämmer & Reinhardt at the beginning of the century and added her signature [D].
Durán studied porcelain dolls in depth throughout her life, and she acquired original molds with which she created all her works from scratch. First, she made the biscuit head, painted it and attached the hair. Then she herself made the wooden body, articulated it and painted it in colors.
Dolls made by this author are of high quality, with very careful details and certainly rare to find.
