This classic mechanical arithmometer “Felix M” is an iconic calculating instrument from the Soviet Union, produced by the well-known calculator factories in Kursk, Penza and Moscow. The model belongs to the most widespread mechanical calculators of the Eastern Bloc and was used in technical offices, accounting departments, and educational institutions.

The device operates entirely mechanically via a pinwheel mechanism and performs the four main operations: addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. The machine is operated via setting levers on the top, a sliding carriage with a result and revolution counter, and a manual crank on the right side.

Deze klassieke mechanische arithmometer “Felix M” is een iconisch rekeninstrument uit de Sovjet‑Unie, geproduceerd door de bekende rekenmachinefabrieken in Kursk, Penza en Moskou. Het model behoort tot de meest verspreide mechanische calculators van het Oostblok en werd gebruikt in technische bureaus, boekhoudafdelingen en onderwijsinstellingen.

Het apparaat werkt volledig mechanisch via een sprossenrad‑mechanisme (pinwheel) en voert de vier hoofdbewerkingen uit: optellen, aftrekken, vermenigvuldigen en delen. De machine wordt bediend via instelhevels aan de bovenzijde, een verschuifbare slede met resultaat‑ en omwentelingsteller, en een handmatige zwengel aan de rechterzijde.
