Description from the seller
Set of two antique decorative solid brass nutcrackers, featuring two very different and particularly interesting models for a collection.
1. Figurative nutcracker “Harlequin / Pierrot”
Sculptural model representing a masculine character with an expressive face, wearing a bonnet and a pleated ruff. The long sleeves are raised in relief.
This model is known on the antique market under the designation “Harlequin / Pierrot nutcracker” and is generally attributed to the early 20th century, around 1900-1920.
2. Geometric nutcracker with radiating motif
Solid brass Art Deco-style model, with a radiating décor around a square opening. It corresponds to models produced in England under the Peerage brand, associated with Pearson-Page of Birmingham, in the first half of the 20th century.
Both nutcrackers retain their original articulated mechanism.
Approximate dimensions:
Length: 14 cm
Width: 2.6 cm
Thickness: 3 cm
Total weight:
568 g
Material:
Solid brass
Period:
Early to mid-20th century, approximately 1900-1950

Europe / England for the Peerage model
Condition:
Good antique general condition with natural patina, traces of oxidation, small marks, wear and signs of use compatible with their age. Some areas of verdigris are visible.

Beautiful pair of collectible nutcrackers, including a rare figurative Harlequin/Pierrot model and an English Peerage-type geometric model.
