Romualdas Rakauskas (born 9 August 1941 in Akmenė) is a photojournalist, a member of the Lithuanian Photographers’ Union and a contributor to the weekly magazine "Nemunas". He is an honorary member of the International Federation of Art Photography (FIAP). He actively organises solo exhibitions and takes part in group exhibitions of artistic photography.
The publication "Variaus apžavai" features photographs of the Variaus stream, which so fascinated R. Rakauskas. Although he was born in a completely different part of Lithuania, the photographer has a particular fondness for Onikszt and the region’s natural landscape.
“Yes, this is my home, where I go to rest so that I have the strength to create something again,” says the photographer. The poetic shores of Varius inspire his work. It was here that the most beautiful photographs for the photo album "Spring Girls" were taken, as well as the "The Happy" series. Rejuvenated and brimming with new ideas, the artist hurries to Kaunas to carry out his plans and return to his beloved Onikšty region, to Varius, which he already misses…
