MINI Morris - Technical Drawing - Frame - Design

A British icon turned into a car. Presentation drawing of the Morris Mini 850 from 1960, one of the first examples of a model aimed at forever transforming the concept of the compact car. Designed under the direction of Alec Issigonis, the Mini combined minimal external dimensions with an astonishing use of interior space.

Its unmistakable design, with small wheels placed at the extremes of the bodywork and simple, functional lines, responded to a revolutionary philosophy: to offer the maximum passenger space inside an extremely compact car.

Under the hood lay the BMC A-series four-cylinder 848 cc engine, transversely mounted and paired with a four-speed manual gearbox. Front-wheel drive and this innovative mechanical layout allowed freeing up much of the cabin, an extraordinarily advanced solution for a popular car at the early 1960s.

Light, agile and economical, the Morris Mini 850 soon proved that its small dimensions did not compromise character. Its direct handling and its distinctive architecture would come to define the Mini family.

More than a small utilitarian car, the 1960 Mini marks the beginning of a cultural and automotive phenomenon. A simple, ingenious and instantly recognizable design that transcended its original function to become one of the great symbols of the UK industry in the 20th century.

Comes with a black wooden frame and synthetic glass. Very well wrapped and protected for trouble-free transport until you have it in your hands. Exterior measurements are 63 x 93 cm and 3 cm in depth.
