This is the first volume in Haga Shoten's The Best Nudes series, presenting art nude photography by Andre de Dienes and Peter Basch. The volume focuses on the human body, movement and photographic form and contains nude photography of adult subjects.

Andre de Dienes (1913-1985) was a Hungarian-American photographer known for fashion, editorial, surrealist and nude photography, as well as for his extensive photographic work with Marilyn Monroe. He began his photographic career in Paris and later worked in New York and California.

Peter Basch (1921-2004) was a Berlin-born photographer who later established his career in New York. During the 1950s and 1960s he photographed dancers, performers, actors, celebrities and glamour subjects for magazines and other publications.
