Description from the seller

Splendid and elegant pair of large rectangular serving trays with rounded corners, equipped with finely crafted torchon handles. The inner surface of each tray is richly decorated with engraved bullets (burins) featuring floral motifs, foliate scrolls, and a smooth central medallion, typical of the great British manufacturing tradition. The edges are embellished with a refined raised molding.
- History and Marks: the back of both pieces bears the original stamp: "Made in Sheffield England FOR VICTOR MEYER OLTEN SWITZERLAND". This mark confirms that the trays were manufactured in the renowned Sheffield metalworking district (famous worldwide for the quality of its silverware and plating) to special commission for the prestigious Swiss firm Victor Meyer, founded in Olten in 1850 and specialized in luxury supplies for high-end hospitality and catering.
- Dimensions and Weight:
- Length (including handles): 70 cm
- Width: 40 cm
- Height at the edge: 2 cm
Total weight: 6200 grams (for the two pieces)
Technical Details: Pair of serving trays with handles (2 pieces)
- Material: Silver-plated metal
- Manufacturer/Origin: Sheffield (England)
Distributor/Brand: Victor Meyer Olten (Switzerland)
- Estimated period: Mid-20th century (ca. 1930-1950)
- Country of origin: United Kingdom (England)
- Style: Classical Sheffield Style
- Condition: Good overall condition, used with small signs of age.
- Wear details: The trays display a splendid warm patina. The plating shows some slightly raised areas with coppery tones (the so-called "bleeding" effect, typical and highly appreciated in antique Sheffield plate, which attests to its authenticity and age). Structurally solid surface, sturdy handles, light surface scratches on the bottom due to use in period times. No major dents."
