Olympus Pen D3, in good physical condition and tested and working.
Description from the seller
OLYMPUS Pen D3, tested and working.
Hello from Japan!
We provide high-quality cameras and lenses to the world.
The Olympus PEN D3 of 1965 is the last and best-specified of the PEN D series, the premium line within Maitani's half-frame PEN family. Where the ordinary PEN traded on simplicity, the D models aimed at enthusiasts: the D3 carries a fast F.Zuiko 32mm f/1.7 six-element lens — the brightest of the series — together with a full manual shutter and an uncoupled CdS exposure meter reading out on the top plate. Shooting 72 frames from a standard 36-exposure roll, it packs near-full-size image quality into a coat-pocket camera, and its combination of fast glass and manual control makes it one of the most capable half-frame cameras ever sold.
Important — please read carefully:
Pre-owned, distinct signs of use or minor optical flaws
Condition: Used — Good
Pre-owned, distinct signs of use or minor optical flaws
Serial Number
Please check the photo.
Appearance
Very clean appearance for its age. Please check the photos.
Optical Condition
Lens / Sensor: Clear, no issues
Functional
The shutter fires correctly (measured 1/42 at the 1/60 setting — about half a stop slow).
The lens is clean and clear.
Measured Performance
We check these cameras on a shutter tester rather than by ear, and we publish what we measured:
- 1/60 — measured 1/42 s (approx. 0.5 stop slow)
- Light meter accuracy — EV12: 3.5 OVER / EV15: 3.5 OVER
Negative film has enough latitude to absorb deviations of this size, but the figures are here so you can judge for yourself.
Servicing
This camera was serviced by us before listing:
- Viewfinder cleaned internally
- Light seals (foam) replaced
Known Issues
1. The built-in exposure meter is not reliable: it reads about 3.5 EV over. The PEN D3 is a fully manual camera with an uncoupled meter, so it shoots normally using an external meter or Sunny-16.
2. The 1/60 shutter speed measured 1/42 — about half a stop slow, within usable range for negative film.
Bundled Items
Only what you can see in the pictures will be included in the package.
