Exceptional and elegant French gaming table, Louis XVI style, first quarter of the 20th century. Made from beautiful precious woods, it rises on four stem-shaped legs in ebonized wood, with a palisander (rosewood) levant? top and a luxurious chess and checkers playing surface in contrast between lupia or root wood, light-toned, and palisander wood. Additionally, in two opposite corners it features a pair of detachable metal ashtrays. Its timeless style makes it perfect for any living room.
For some authors, Louis XVI is a style with a clearly feminine tendency, and it was even suggested it should be named “Marie Antoinette.” It contrasts with Louis XV in its simplicity; the rigor of geometric shapes and straight lines is once again appreciated, an inspiration drawn directly from classical architecture.
