Large Neolithic axe/pickaxe made from the local flint of Spiennes and surroundings. Typical for the Middle Neolithic Michelsberg culture. This piece could have been used as a tool in the local flint mines. The site of Spiennes near Mons is world-famous for its large number of silex mines and is one of the largest operations of this product in Europe. The modern local museum is definitely worth a visit.
In good condition and no restorations
A piece of text that is glued to the rock I left attached to it, perhaps it is something that still carries a bit of history.
Dimensions 171 x 58 mm.
With every sold lot an authenticity certificate is provided
