An antique Napoleon III style portefeuille gaming table, circa 1900–1910, in geometric rosewood and palisander marquetry with mother-of-pearl inlays, the piece measures 75 cm high, 80 cm long and 38 cm deep.
Description from the seller
Stunning Napoleon III period folding gaming table in marquetry and mother-of-pearl.
Refined Louis XV style / Napoleon III era gaming table, crafted in geometric marquetry known as “cube” marquetry in rosewood and palisander.
The upper surface is richly decorated with an oval central cartouche inlaid with genuine mother-of-pearl marquetry, bringing a very beautiful shine and great elegance to the piece.
The top, lined inside with its original green felt in good condition, folds out like a wallet to open onto the belt of the furniture.
It rests on four curved feet adorned with splendid chased gilt-bronze mounts.
Condition:
Mother-of-pearl inlays: Presence of small losses and wear on the mother-of-pearl elements of the top, quite consistent with the age and authenticity of the piece.
Structure / Feet: A discreet old restoration is present at the end of one foot (metal reinforcement/fastening), very solid and almost imperceptible at a distance.
General: Good overall condition with a magnificent antique patina.
Dimensions:
Height: 75 cm
Length: 80 cm
Depth (closed): 38 cm
