Description from the seller
We present a Beijing Aubusson Savonnerie Chinese rug, made between 1960 and 1980, completely hand-knotted in wool and silk on cotton and signed by the master weaver.
This elegant piece belongs to the high-end Chinese Aubusson production, known for its extremely tight weave, fine and dense pile, and the abundant use of silk in the decorative motifs, which imparts a characteristic golden sheen.
The rug presents a compact, heavy structure, indicating high knot density and excellent material quality. The classic Savonnerie-inspired floral design is executed on a smooth surface (not embossed), with silk details finely integrated into the wool.
Condition: very good.
No tears or fraying.
It only has a small light stain in one corner (visible in photographs).
Professional cleaning by specialists in fine rugs is recommended to properly preserve the silk and dyes. It should not be cleaned using domestic methods.
