For sale: a legendary, Swiss-German Thorens TD 318 Mk I turntable. The unit is in very good visual condition and 100% mechanically sound. It shows normal signs of use due to age.

It uses the brand’s proven philosophy – complete separation of the tonearm and platter from the motor and power supply.

Key features and specifications:
Floating chassis (Sub-chassis): The platter together with the tonearm are mounted on a sprung system (with the possibility of precise leveling from above), which brilliantly isolates the needle from external vibrations and substrate vibrations.
Straight factory tonearm (Thorens TP 21) with low effective mass, offering full adjustment capabilities:
- Precise stylus tracking force (VTF)
- Anti-skating adjustment (magnetic)
- Tonearm height adjustment (VTA)
- Azimuth angle adjustment
Drive and electronics: Belt-driven with electronic speed stabilization, powered by a 16‑pole synchronous motor.
Auto-stop: Optoelectronic end switch – after playback finishes the tonearm automatically lifts and the motor turns off (without physical mechanical contact, which prevents distortion and stylus wear).
Massive platter: Ensures high rotational stability (33 1/3 and 45 RPM).
Weight: approx. 12.5 kg – solid, heavy and rigid plinth ensuring stability.

Thanks to full tonearm adjustment, the turntable offers great flexibility in selecting and calibrating any cartridge (both MM and MC).
