Traditional Moroccan KOUMMYA dagger (Berber Jambiya) – Authentic collector's item, first half/mid of the 20th century

For sale is a traditional Moroccan Koummya dagger (regional variant of the famous Arab jambiya dagger), an authentic handcrafted collector's item, full of history and character. It is not a modern mass tourist souvenir, but a handmade panoply weapon, most likely dating from the 1920s–1970s.

The piece is distinguished by its special structural details and an excellent historical patina:

Blade with rare craftsman's mark: The steel blade features a deep, hot-forged punch (stamp) – a central arrow flanked by two stars/suns (Berber talismanic symbols of protection). This mark confirms its origin in a traditional armorer's workshop.

Exotic Wood Handle: Made of hardwood, showing a superb organic wear and a fine drying crack typical of its age, which enhances its authenticity. The handle ends with an engraved brass pommel.

Brass Scabbard and Decorations: The scabbard has the pronounced curvature typical of the Koummya style and is fully decorated by hand engraving (chiseling) with vegetal motifs and Islamic arabesques. It features the two massive shoulder strap attachment rings.

History and Period Repairs: The piece retains an authentic historical repair made with lead/tin at the end of the handle and on the top of the scabbard, clear evidence of the fact that it was a prized and used object in the era, not just a decorative piece.

General condition: The piece is complete (the handle and scabbard are original and fit together perfectly), with the natural patina of time preserved intact (fine traces of oxygenation and green cochlea in the recesses of the engraving). No aggressive chemicals were used to avoid destroying its historical value.
