Pair of Art Deco marble bookends dating from 1920–1930, in black and green with Bauhaus links, manufactured in France; each measures 15 cm high, 11 cm wide and 8 cm deep, with a total weight of 5 kg and condition described as good with minor signs of aging.
Description from the seller
A pair of Art Deco bookends (or possibly desk letter holders/pen protectors) dating from the 1920s or 1930s. The objects bear characteristic Bauhaus and Art Deco stylistic features:
Material: Black and greenish-gray, presumably marble or onyx.
Decoration: Their fronts are decorated with geometric, stylized silver-plated metalwork (reminiscent of the motifs of contemporary skyscrapers or classic Art Deco torches).
Form: They are characterized by strict, straight lines, beveled corners and symmetrical, architectural forms, which were extremely characteristic of Belgian and French luxury objects of the period.
They are in good condition, considering their age, with minor signs of use.
We can post it carefully packaged, in an insured, registered package.
