Louis XV Style Commode from France, dating to circa 1920–1930, a bombe wooden chest with a white/grey-veined marble top, rich veneer wood and gilt bronze mounts, featuring two side cupboards and a central three-drawer bank, lockable and in good condition (42 cm D × 138 cm W × 82 cm H).
Description from the seller
• Top: Thick white/grey-veined marble slab (likely Carrara or similar natural stone) with a gently shaped edge.
• Body: Rich dark wood veneer (mahogany, rosewood, or kingwood-style) with exquisite floral marquetry inlays in lighter woods (yellow-toned flowers, vines, and branches). The central section features three graduated drawers with elaborate bouquets; the flanking sides have tall vertical floral panels on cupboard doors.
• Hardware & Mounts: Extensive gilt bronze (ormolu) accents including acanthus-leaf corner mounts, rocaille-style drawer pulls and keyholes, a central apron cartouche, and protective sabots on the feet.
• Legs: Graceful cabriole legs with carved details.
• Storage: Two side doors (for concealed storage) + central bank of three drawers – practical and elegant.
• Overall Style Notes: Bombé curves on three sides, scalloped apron, and symmetrical floral inlay typical of mid-20th-century French or European reproductions. Excellent craftsmanship with no visible damage in the images.
