Description from the seller
CAPODIMONTE. SOLDIER. Splendid and imposing period sculpture in fine biscuit porcelain, depicting a Napoleonic soldier on horseback, entirely modeled and hand-painted. The piece is by the renowned master sculptor Zossi for the famous Italian Capodimonte manufactory, dating to the second half of the 20th century. The work stands out for the incredible anatomical realism of the gray horse and for the millimetric accuracy of the military uniform, complete with feluca, decorative heraldic trim and saddlebag. Notably valuable: the soldier’s sabre is a metal-mounted finely darkened element, with a bladed blade (mark visible in the photo). On the front of the base is the famous relief emblem with a golden crown and the blue Capodimonte “N” letter, while on the surface of the lawn the autograph signature of the author “Zossi” is clearly inscribed. The porcelain is intact, with vivid colors and perfectly preserved. The sabre and the reins are original and intact. A high-quality collectible piece, ideal for lovers of Napoleonic militaria and fine Italian artistic porcelain.
