Rustic antique chair in dark stained beech wood with a tall turned back and a woven seat, dating from circa 1900–1930.
Description from the seller
Dark-stained rustic antique chair with turned wood and rush seat – early 20th century
Beautiful high-back antique chair, made of turned wood and presenting an elegant dark brown patina. Its particularly slender backrest is composed of three shaped rails, framed by two tall turned uprights ending in decorative elements. The legs and stretchers reuse this turned work, giving the whole a silhouette that is both rustic and refined.
The seat is woven from natural plant fibers, using a traditional technique, with a pretty geometric pattern converging toward the center. It features a beautiful natural tone that pleasantly contrasts with the dark wood. This chair corresponds to French rustic furniture / country style, made during the first half of the 20th century, circa 1900–1930. The chair is in very good overall condition considering its age.
The wood retains a lovely patina with some natural signs of wear and marks visible in the photographs, contributing to the piece’s authentic character. The rush seat is particularly well preserved.
A beautiful decorative piece that could be used as an occasional chair, a bedroom chair, or integrated into an old-fashioned, chic country, or contemporary interior.
