France origin; gilt metal stool in Hollywood Regency vintage style, dating to the 1940s–1950s, with a curule base, gold colour, dimensions 73 cm high by 63 cm wide by 43 cm deep, in good condition with signs of aging.
Description from the seller
Elegant Hollywood Regency-style gilt wrought-iron stool, dating from approximately the 1950s, distinguished by its sculptural curule-form base and elaborate rope-and-tassel decoration.
The stool is constructed from hand-worked iron with a warm, softly aged gilt finish. Its rectangular seat is formed from finely perforated metal mesh and supported by gracefully intersecting X-shaped curule legs, creating a light yet architecturally balanced silhouette.
Particularly decorative are the four upward-sweeping side elements, terminating in scrolls from which hang twisted metal cords and finely modelled tassels. This trompe-l'œil rope decoration gives the piece its distinctive theatrical character and is closely associated with the glamorous Neo-Classical vocabulary popular in European and Hollywood Regency interiors during the mid-20th century.
The original finish has developed an attractive mellow patina, with gentle variations and traces of wear that emphasize the hand-worked quality of the metal.
The structure is solid and stable, and the pierced metal seat remains secure.
Condition: Very good vintage condition, with wear and patina consistent with age and use.
Dimensions: approximately
72 cm high × 62 cm wide × 43 cm deep.
An exceptionally decorative piece, ideal as a vanity or dressing stool, occasional seat, or positioned beneath a console table. Its elegant proportions and warm gilded surface allow it to work particularly well in Hollywood Regency, Neo-Classical, Maison Jansen-inspired or eclectic interiors.
