Frame (2) - Wood - Antique gold leaf

Refined, antique small wooden frame with gold leaf work, square with an internal circular opening of Italian manufacture (Central Italy), dating to the first half of the 19th century (Carlo X period). The object stands out for its splendid workmanship with geometric and stylistic contrast: the external structure is entirely open-carved with scrolls, foliate motifs, tendrils and cartouches (cartouche style). The inner profile “bulino” is finely embossed with small geometric dots; this technique was used to give depth to miniatures (very fashionable in that precise twenty-year period) and to make the gilding stand out under candlelight. The object presents in excellent vintage condition. The gilding is original and shows a fascinating and sincere patina. Very light and normal signs of time and natural signs of wear on the back are visible, elements that confirm its absolute authenticity and age (refer to the photo gallery for the discernible details). Structurally sound and solid.
