Description from the seller
French antique flatware set by Bourgeois Nicolas, 37 rue Volta (1888-1908)
16 place settings in silver-plated metal – 1,202 g – floral and monogrammed decoration
A fine antique set of 16 utensils, consisting of 8 large spoons and 8 forks, featuring an elegant relief decoration inspired by floral and vegetal motifs.
The handles are richly worked with motifs of flowers, foliage and stylized ornaments.
Several pieces also bear an old engraved monogram, evidence of their history and family provenance.
The cutlery bears visible maker’s marks, including the number 84, corresponding to the plating thickness, as well as the NB hallmark with a windmill for Bourgeois Nicolas.
The set shows a beautiful antique patina, with traces of use, micro-scratches, small marks and natural oxidation consistent with its age.
One spoon in particular shows more pronounced patina.
The set has intentionally not been heavily polished in order to preserve its antique character.
