Ancient black-painted and gilded wooden cornice, contemporaneous with touch-ups/restorations – an important XVIIIth century artifact in gold and black pigment.

Rare and refined antique frame with great visual presence, handcrafted in wood, featuring an elegant arched, lowered/sculpted form, painted in black and embellished with a rich leaf-gold decoration, done by hand and heated.

The decorative composition displays phytomorphic motifs, scrolls, vegetal elements and ornamental speckling arranged symmetrically along the black band, with a delicate alternation between the dark surface of the black lacquer and the brightness of the gilding.

The inner portion is defined by multiple gilded moldings, which create strong visual depth and give the frame a monumental character.

Close-up photographs highlight particularly well the texture of the surface, the irregularities of the gilding, the overlays of painted layers and the signs of time, elements that confer to the object that authentic and unparalleled patina sought in the high-end antique market.
