Description from the seller
Never sold demo loudspeaker pair from Groningen-based MC-Systems, the absolute reference. Current new value 44,990 euros! The pair has some minor damage but is in very neat condition. Supplied without original packaging but will be very well packed for delivery or shipment. The set consists of the two speakers, 2 DSP/amplifier units and the connection cable between the units.
This is what MC says about it:
Beautiful design with unmatched performance, the MP2.1 has it all. Form meets function in the most elegant way. Driven by its own high-quality amplifiers with DSP control for its deep and boundless bass and a traditionally high-quality passive filter for its true ribbon tweeter and custom mid-range drivers. All of this sits in a separate box and is connected to the speaker with a custom pure-silver cable.
True ribbon clarity and speed
The MP2.1 uses a true ribbon tweeter, known for its great speed, clarity and extension. They ensure you get everything out of your favorite music without it becoming tiring.
The tweeter is mounted in its own cabinet, integrated on top of the speaker. By decoupling the tweeter from the rest of the cabinet, the transfer of unwanted vibrations from the main cabinet can be reduced. This further reduces distortion.
Mids so real you can feel them
The MP2.1 uses two custom mid-range drivers optimized for speed and clarity. Whether it’s the hit of a snare drum or the soothing voice of your favorite singer, everything sounds lifelike and defined. These drivers are also mounted on the back of the cabinet via an aluminum block, rather than being directly screwed to the front, so as to transmit as few unwanted vibrations to the cabinet as possible.
Coupled woofers to keep the lows under control
Woofers have by far the largest moving mass in a loudspeaker, and every time the cone changes direction, it exerts a certain force on the cabinet panel to which it is mounted. All those vibrations cause the cabinet to vibrate and create distortion. In our original patent we largely solved this by coupling the woofer to the much stiffer rear panel. But we have found an even better way to solve this problem.
By coupling a second woofer to the first and moving it in the opposite direction, we can essentially counteract the forces produced by each woofer and eliminate them completely. An added benefit of two woofers is that they don’t have to work as hard, reducing distortion and increasing speed. This means you not only hear kick drums and other impactful bass sounds like never before, but you also feel the impact.
Finally, the woofers are mounted and sealed together with a gasket. Because they are not directly screwed to the cabinet, vibrations are transmitted less and distortion is reduced.
