Facing this superb and graceful sculpture

These masks are said to have been used by the secret societies Bugado and Bambudye and were worn during funeral ceremonies. The dancers, dressed in a fur costume, wore a white and black wig evoking the coat of the colobus monkey.

Ces masques auraient été utilisés par des sociétés secrètes Bugado et Bambudye et sortaient lors des cérémonies d'enterrement. Les danseurs, vêtus d'un costume de fourrure, portaient une perruque blanche et noire évoquant le pelage du singe colobus.
