Description from the seller
Welcome to Passion d'Orient:
The term Kazak is used generically to classify a heterogeneous group of carpets from various areas of the Caucasus. The Kazaks of the 19th century were completely wool-knotted; they were carpets with long, glossy pile and large colorful geometric designs that varied according to the production area. During the 20th century, their beauty — both colors and original, whimsical patterns — was rediscovered, always made from memory by women who passed them from mother to daughter, thus transmitting this great tradition through the centuries. In this way, Caucasian carpets began to be appreciated and increasingly sought after by enthusiasts and collectors, reaching remarkable valuations and taking a leading place in the spectrum of Oriental carpets.
