Large and attractive collection of 192 Russian silver wire coins (чешуя) from the period of the Tsardom of Russia.

These characteristic hammered coins were produced by cutting small pieces of silver wire, flattening them and striking them individually between dies. The resulting irregular and often elongated flans are a distinctive feature of Russian wire money.

The collection contains a variety of types, rulers, legends and die varieties. Numerous pieces retain clearly visible Cyrillic inscriptions and the traditional mounted horseman design. The group appears to include coins from different periods of Russian wire coinage, providing considerable potential for further attribution and study.
