Description from the seller
Welcome to Passion d'Orient:
The term Kazak is used generically to classify a heterogeneous group of carpets from various areas of the Caucasus. The Kazaks of the 19th century were knotted entirely in wool, they were carpets with long and bright pile and large colorful geometric designs varying by production area. During the 20th century, their beauty in both colors and original and fanciful designs was rediscovered, always created from memory by women who handed them down from mother to daughter, transmitting over the centuries this great tradition. It is thus that Caucasian carpets began to be appreciated and increasingly sought after by enthusiasts and collectors, until reaching remarkable valuations and securing a leading position in the panorama of Oriental carpets.
