Late 19th‑century inkstand dating to about 1880–1900, with a cobalt blue and white porcelain body on an elaborately worked bronze square base in the Louis XV historicist style, a domed porcelain lid with a metal rim and a spherical knop, and an original removable inner cup, in excellent condition with minor wear.
Description from the seller
Magnificent inkstand from the late 19th century, circa 1880-1900, combining polychrome porcelain and a bronze mount.
The inkstand features a pretty cylindrical body in cobalt blue and white porcelain, delicately decorated with small floral motifs in pink and blue tones.
It rests on a substantial square bronze base richly worked in relief with scrolls, foliage and botanical motifs, in the Louis XV historicist taste. The domed porcelain lid, also decorated, is edged with metal and mounted on a hinge. It is topped by a spherical button.
The interior also retains its original removable cup, an element frequently missing on antique inkstands.
Very good overall condition considering its age. Slight signs of use and natural patination of the metal in keeping with the age. Inner cup present. Please examine the photographs carefully, which are an integral part of the description.
