Natural silk handmade Chinese art tapis - Traditional Scene - 90x150 cm
This rug is a work of art in pure natural silk, fully hand-knotted. It is a recent piece representing traditional Chinese scenes in a figurative mode (landscapes and figures) of remarkable craftsmanship.
Dimensions about 90x150 cm, an ideal format for wall decoration or a bedside or coffee table rug.
Very high knot density. The back of the rug (see photo 10 and following) is the exact and perfect mirror of the front, which attests to authentic artisanal workmanship, meticulous and high-quality.
Excellent condition, close to new. It has been kept away from light and foot traffic. Having been stored folded, it shows slight creases visible in the photos that will gradually flatten out when laid flat.
Provenance: received as a gift at a Chinese art and craft fair. This is a workshop piece selected to represent traditional know-how abroad.
