Stauffer e.a. - Ashtray (2) - ceramics and melamine

Two large vintage ashtrays,
ceramic and melamine,
USA, mid-20th century.

A very large ashtray with the Lions International logo.
In the logo the R and Made in USA, the material is melamine.
Collector’s item, little signs of wear.
Diameter 22.5 cm, height 2.8 cm.

A hand-painted ceramic ashtray with
an image of the sailing ship Prince de Neufchatel 1812.
That ship was a so-called brigantine: a two-masted
vessel of which only the forward mast is square-rigged.
Signed with ‘Stauffer’ (painter of historical ships)
and on the bottom marked with two crossed feathers 8358.
That mark was from porcelain factory Kalk in Thuringia,
but here used by the American importer Arnart Creations.
Dimensions: 26 x 18.5 x 3 cm. As good as new, no signs of use.
