Description from the seller
Antique naturalized marten – Taxidermy from the late 19th century – Around 1890 – Handcrafted mount on a pedestal
Superb antique specimen of a naturalized marten, dating from the late 19th century, around 1890.
A true cabinet of curiosities piece, notable for its age and especially for its excellent overall condition given its age.
The specimen retains a very beautiful fur, dense and luminous, displaying magnificent natural shades ranging from golden blond to deeper brown.
The head is particularly expressive: jaws open, visible dentition and striking gaze. The long tail and the animal’s dynamic pose give a lot of presence to the whole.
The specimen was artisanal mounted in 1965 on a wooden pedestal with natural branches. This later mount allows for a decorative display that is particularly successful while preserving the historical character of the taxidermy.
