Very beautiful and singular African sculpture in solid brass representing a stylized human head, originating from Ivory Coast.
Despite its relatively compact dimensions, this piece has a remarkable presence thanks to its weight of 272 grams and the density of the metal.
The face is deliberately treated in a hieratic and geometric manner: stretched and almost closed eyes, long straight nose, strongly drawn mouth and twisted elements framing the corners of the lips.
The hairstyle is certainly one of the most spectacular elements of the sculpture. It is composed of a multitude of vertically projected projections individually shaped, giving the silhouette an immediately recognizable identity.
The whole rests on a square base integrated into the sculpture.
