Column - Alabastro Venato di Volterra - 1850-1900

Elegant standing column pedestal, a refined piece entirely crafted in Volterra veined alabaster (Italy).
Scenographic, beautiful in form and appearance, the stone stands out for its extraordinary material quality, characterized by a suggestive waxy translucency at the base and dense natural gray-anthracite inclusions, which create a rich and deep cloudy effect with a sinuous flow.
Entirely turned and shaped, it features the octagonal upper plane with a bevelled profile.
The central cylindrical shaft tapers, with three protruding rings (collars) carved from solid.
Beautiful the stepped octagonal base, which geometrically repeats the design of the summit, ensuring formal and static stability.
Typical product of the late 19th century / early 20th century, it preserves the splendid original luster obtained through fine manual polishing of the natural stone.
