Manufacturer / movement: Vincenti & Cie (on the movement marked with the official stamp “Médaille d'Argent 1855”)
Epoch: Second half of the 19th century (c. 1855 – 1900)
Materials: Black marble with decorative elements and inlays of green marble.
Detailed description
This French mantel clock is a classic antique piece in marble, notable for its robust and elegant architectural design (Second Empire/ Napoleon III style). The round dial with gilded Roman numerals is protected by a glass with a brass frame and features a visible escapement (with visible jewels/moving components) in the upper area, a very striking horological detail. Furthermore, the circular viewport in the center reveals the pendulum, which bears the mark “R = A.” The interior mechanism bears the famous stamp of the manufacturer Vincenti et Cie.
Technical and aesthetic condition
Functionality: The clock and the striking mechanism are functional.
Condition notes:
- There is a crack in the back marble door.
- The latch handle of the back marble door is improvised.
- There is a glue spot on the hammer of the striking mechanism.
Important: These minor imperfections are purely aesthetic on the backside and do not affect the function of the clock or the striking mechanism.
