Description from the seller
Precious centerpiece / vintage fruit stand / fruit server of Italian manufacture, made by the renowned Argenteria De Vecchi of Milan (historic factory mark 665 MI stamped beneath the base). The object is distinguished by its very high craftsmanship quality and the refined neobaroque taste, typical of the great Milanese silvermaking tradition of the second half of the 20th century. Features and Structure: Oval Mirrored Base: In solid 800 silver, embellished along the edge with a garland chased with laurel leaves. Figurative Supports: Four splendid feet cast in the shape of heraldic/dolphin-like grottesque figures finely chased in the detail of the scales. The feet are equipped with original threaded pins perfectly functional for the structural mounting. Upper Bowl: In heavy hand-engraved crystal with an elegant spiral motif (tortiglione) and a starry bottom. Dimensions and Weight: Overall height: about 15.5 cm; Crystal bowl length: about 23.5 cm; Oval silver base dimensions: about 19 cm x 13 cm; Total weight of the object: 1,119 grams (Weight of the silver base alone: 133 g); Estimated total weight of the silver component: about 230 - 250 grams. Condition: Excellent vintage condition overall. The crystal is completely intact, free of chips, cracks, or crazing. The silver structure is solid, with the threaded pins smoothly engaging when tightened. Transparency note: The natural patina of the silver is evident, imperceptible micro-scratches from cleaning, and some small oxidation spots (pitting) on the mirror-like surface of the oval base, as clearly shown in the macro detail photos.
