Midland - 77-861 CB Radio

Vintage Midland 77-861 CB radio, 1970s, made in Japan.
This is a 40-channel CB radio, complete with microphone and antenna.
It is a very distinctive model. It is compact, being quite slim, and has been designed to be portable and versatile.
It can be worn over the shoulder, or left fixed as a base unit, or used in a car.
It has a compartment for standard AA batteries (1.5V) and comes with a cable to connect it to an external 12V power supply. Also included are two original brackets for mounting or support and the belt/strap to carry the radio over the shoulder.

The radio has been tested both in transmission and reception and is fully functional. The audio is also excellent. All lights and controls work well, and the signal indicator needle moves. The antenna is very long and straight.
The test was done using, for practicality, a desktop 12V power supply (not included). I did not test it with AA batteries, but the battery compartment appears well preserved and free of oxidation.

Overall cosmetic condition is very good. There are obviously signs of use and age, but the visual impact is excellent thanks to bright chrome and the craftsmanship of the times.
A CB radio of definite interest for enthusiasts and collectors, or for those who want a CB radio that does not require installing an external antenna.
