Large crackled Nanking stoneware plate in a Qing dynasty style dating to the late 19th/early 20th century, 32.9 cm in diameter and 5.8 cm high, with a polychrome phoenix motif and an incised back mark, from a private collection, in good used condition with small glaze wear and an ancient border restoration.

Grand crackled stoneware plate from Nanking with a multicolored Phoenix decoration – China, late 19th / early 20th century
Description:
Large circular plate in Nanking crackled ceramic, with a brown-engraved border imitating bronze. The dish is richly decorated in polychrome enamels with a pair of phoenix (Fenghuang) perched on scholar rocks (Taihu), amid blooming peonies and under pine branches. Incised mark in a brown seal on the reverse. Presence of an old dealer label for curios/gifts (Ray. Lul...).

Good overall visual condition with vivid colors.
A small enamel chip on the outer rim (visible on the reverse).
An old restoration glued/sealed onto the brown border (noted area).
