Description from the seller
Elegant pair of champagne/dessert crystal coupes from the Fortuna series, designed by Elsa Fischer-Treyden for Rosenthal (Germany).
Fischer-Treyden was one of the key figures in Rosenthal design from 1952, a pupil of Wilhelm Wagenfeld, with works exhibited also at the MoMA.
Features:
Crystal coupe in transparent crystal with a hand-cut radiating pattern
Conical stem/base in smoky gray glass, blown separately and assembled to the coupe
Authentic Rosenthal mark (crown with italic R) engraved on the bottom
Hand-blown glass: slight height variation between the two pieces (about half a centimeter), a typical and appreciated trait of the handcrafted craftsmanship of the era, not a defect (see last image)
Mid-century modern design, Germany, 1950s-60s
Condition: excellent,
Diameter of coupe: 10 cm
