Rare and elegant, a uniform set of 9 Christofle knife rests in silvered metal, model “Racquet,” also referred to as “Striated,” attributed to the renowned French designer Luc Lanel (1893–1965).

With its geometric silhouette and the characteristic vertical striations, this model perfectly illustrates the modernist Art Deco aesthetic and Christofle’s craftsmanship in tableware.

The form evokes a small racquet, with an elongated body and a rounded handle, offering both decorative presence and excellent stability on the table.

This nine-piece set constitutes a particularly interesting ensemble for a Christofle collector, to complete an existing service or for an elegant, high-capacity table.

Utilisation

Knife rests are traditionally placed near the plate to receive the knife blade between courses or during the meal. They thus prevent the blade from resting directly on the tablecloth.

Marquages et authenticité

The pieces bear on the reverse characteristic marks of Christofle, notably:

* The inscription “CHRISTOFLE” in a rectangular cartouche.
* The master-orfèvre’s hallmark depicting a chess knight accompanied by the letters O and C, corresponding to Christofle Goldsmithing.

These marks are consistent with a French production by Christofle in the 20th century.

État de conservation

Très bon état vintage général.

Le métal argenté présente encore un bel éclat et une finition homogène. Les pièces ne présentent pas de désargenture importante.

Quelques micro-rayures superficielles liées à l’usage et au temps peuvent être observées, principalement sous les bases. Elles restent normales pour des objets anciens de cette nature et sont visibles sur les photographies.

Aucune déformation, fissure ou enfoncement important n’est à signaler.
