Description from the seller
Exceptional Émaux de Longwy Table Lamp Base with Relief Cabochons – Art Deco / Mid-Century Style
Description:
We present this magnificent and unique table lamp base made of glazed earthenware by the prestigious French manufacture Émaux de Longwy. Featuring high decorative character, this piece stands out for its combination of traditional crackle-glazed earthenware and a design that evokes the refinement of 1930s and 1940s fine jewelry.
Item Details:
Glazed Earthenware Base: The lamp base features an elegant baluster silhouette in the shape of a slender vase, resting on a subtly molded circular foot. The ivory-white glaze is covered with the fine network of crackles (crackelure) characteristic of Longwy's decorative production.
Cabochon and Gold Decoration: The surface of the base is adorned with several oval relief cabochons in vibrant ruby red and amber orange tones. Each cabochon is surrounded by a gold mount with a jewelry setting effect, simulating set gemstones. The top and bottom of the base are also enhanced with gold motifs and highlights, adding a touch of opulence.
Style and Aesthetics: This piece merges the spirit of Art Deco with Neo-Baroque and "jeweled" design elements. Its aesthetic recalls the creations of renowned designers such as Line Vautrin or Robert Goossens, known for their use of cabochons, inlays, and precious materials. It adds a sense of glamour and sophistication to any space.
Versatility and Condition:
Versatility: Offered as a base only, allowing the future owner to pair it with a lampshade of their choice—whether modern, colorful, or graphic. Thanks to its balanced shape and ornate decoration, it integrates seamlessly into classic, modern, eclectic, or maximalist interiors.
Note: It is recommended to check electrical functionality and compliance according to the country of use.
Condition: The lamp base is in very good overall condition. The fine network of crackles in the glaze is inherent to the manufacturing technique and does not constitute a defect. Bidders are invited to carefully review the provided photographs to appreciate all details.
