Italian prephilatelic lot dating from around 1600 to the 1800s, titled Interessante lotto prefilatelico, comprising just over 90 pieces of postal-history items used for mail, offered as seen; no certificate or expert signature.
Description from the seller
Interesting and substantial lot of pre-philatelic postal history including covers (unstamped), letters, fragments, etc. There are just over 90 pieces. Some very old, dating from the early 1600s to the second half of the 1800s, approx. There are administrative documents, private letters between noble families including the Valenti Gonzaga Arrivabene. One to Scipione da Filicaja from the early 1800s. Some addressed to a Venetian count, a letter addressed to Pacifico Boccabianca from 1846, etc. One from London to Mantua with the note “insufficiently paid.” Places include Chiusi, Venice, Murano, Florence, Verona, Rome, Turin, Chieti, Mantua, and others. The lot is offered as you see it; I have only protected the oldest pieces to preserve them. Please check all the photographs; some are better than others, some are well preserved, others show flaws due to time, such as stains or tears.
