Sterling silver (925) magnifying glass with a decorative Art Deco handle, UK origin, dating to 1906, 15.5 cm high by 6.3 cm wide by 1 cm deep, single object, fully tested and functional, with original UK hallmarks on the handle; the lens, bezel and threaded fitting may have been replaced later and the piece may not be entirely contemporaneous with the hallmarks.

Magnifying glass with handle in Sterling Silver 925 – Sheffield 1906
Elegant magnifying glass with a handle in Sterling Silver 925, decorated with raised vegetal motifs.
The handle bears the original British hallmarks:
Lion passant: Sterling Silver 925.
Crown: Assay Office of Sheffield.
Date letter: 1906 (Edwardian era).
and a further two marks on the reverse (see photo)
IMPORTANT: the hallmarks are found exclusively on the handle. The lens, bezel, and screwed connector may have been replaced or remounted at a later date. Therefore, it is not possible to guarantee that the entire object is fully in keeping with the hallmarking on the handle.
The item is nevertheless perfectly functional and represents an interesting example of reusing an early 20th-century English silver handle.
Esthetic conditions good, with normal signs of use and a patina consistent with age. The photographs are an integral part of the description.
