Christofle is a French silversmithing and tableware company, founded in Paris in 1830 by Charles Christofle.
The company is known for introducing electrolytic gilding and silvering (electroplating) in France in 1842. The firm was acquired in 2012 by one of its shareholders, the luxury group of the Chalhoub family.
Maison Christofle relies on production that is entirely handmade following traditional techniques. The precious crafts of turning and repoussé, planishing, chasing, engraving, which are upheld by its Master Goldsmiths and Meilleurs Ouvriers de France, immortalize the qualities of elegance and excellence of all Christofle pieces. This irreplaceable human know-how is perpetuated by highly skilled artisans.
