Very beautiful set of two Chinese porcelain covered cachepots, from the second half of the 20th century, made in the taste of Qing imperial porcelains from the Qianlong period.

The two pieces feature a remarkable polychrome decoration dominated by a bright yellow-orange glaze, paired with a deep cobalt blue. The design is composed of flowers, foliage and stylized arabesques, completed by several elegant geometric and ornamental borders.

The large cachepot has a generously bulbous shape with a knobbed lid, while the second repeats the same decorative vocabulary in a more compact form.

The contrast between the yellow glazed surface and the blue gives the ensemble a particularly decorative presence and evokes the old Chinese porcelains known as “huangdi qinghua” (黄地青花), with a yellow ground and blue decoration.

The large piece measures about 28 cm in height and 18 cm in maximum diameter.

The base of the large cachepot bears a mark in Chinese characters 大清乾隆年製 (“Da Qing Qianlong Nian Zhi”), corresponding to a Qianlong reign mark that is often reproduced on later productions.

The set is presented as a mid-20th-century Chinese production, in the style of Qing imperial porcelains.
