This equipment is used by amateur radio operators for manual Morse code (CW) transmission. It features a heavy base with a gold-plated finish, micrometer-adjustable mechanical components, and two independent paddles (black arms) operated by springs.

When connected to a transceiver via its audio jack cable, it allows automated generation of alternating bursts of dots (dits) and dashes (dahs) depending on which side is pressed.
