This richly engraved copper dial has 12 individual cartouches in white enamel with blue Roman numerals.
It is characteristic of clocks from the Regency and early Louis XV period.
(early 18th century)
This type of dial was used, among others, for:
Iconic French clocks such as:
Luxury Boulle clocks, wall cartel clocks, and early French lantern clocks and Comtoise clocks.
Cartouche nos. 5 and 8 have been restored; see photos.
